First Bath at Home

Mommy gave Lily her first bath at home in her cool hammock-equipped bath tub. She was a little fussy until the warm water hit her head, as you can see here. Then she seemed to settle down and enjoy the pampering.

Going Home from the Hospital

Going home outfit-1

This was Lily's going home from the hospital outfit. It is the same dress Carrie wore home from the hospital. Grand-mère washed and ironed it for the big day.

When we got home, we found the house festively decorated for Lily's arrival thanks to Jen and Leesa. Thanks, girls! Click here for more photos of Lily's first day at home.

Lily didn't like her first bath, until she got to her head being washed.

Learning to Eat

One of Lily's big hurdles in the NICU was learning to eat enough to grow. At first, she would take just a few swallows and get too tired to go any further. Mommy and Daddy had to learn all sorts of techniques to get her to finish her bottle.

Lily - Day 3

Here are some photos and a video that Lara took when she came to visit Lily. Lily was 3 days old and had to spend the day in an isolette so that she could warm up. She got to come out the following morning.

Lily's First Two Weeks

In an effort to catch up on posting photos, here's one of Lily while in the NICU. She had a feeding tube in her nose because she hadn't yet learned how to eat efficiently and was wearing herself out trying to take her bottle (this problem quickly resolved itself, and after several days Lily pulled her own feeding tube out!).

Baby Lily's Blog

By popular demand… We’ve gotten so many requests for a Lily website that we thought we’d try this blog to keep friends and family updated on Lily.

Lily was born Friday 7/7/06 at 9:17pm. She weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and was 18 inches long. Because she was a preemie (34 weeks), she spent her first 2 weeks in the NICU of St. David’s Hospital. We took Lily home on 7/22, ready to settle in to life with baby at home. Lily, however, had other ideas. On the 25th, she had a little seizure, which took us back to the hospital for several days of tests. 3 week old Lily now has had more tests run on her than Mommy and Daddy have in their entire lives combined! The doctors confirmed what Mommy and Daddy already knew - she's perfect. We got home from hospital stay #2 on Friday, 7/28, and we are really hoping that we are home for good now.

We'll try to post regularly with new pictures of Lily and updates on what she's doing.
