My how the time has flown!

Today was Lily's first day of Kindergarten. It doesn't seem like it can possibly be that long since we posted here!

Princesses and Cupcakes

Lily's daily sheet from school had a note on it: "Lily talked about her birthday party with princesses and cupcakes."  I asked her teacher about it; she said Lily told her several times during the day about her birthday with princesses and cupcakes.  There were no princesses at Lily's birthday (though there were lots and lots of cupcakes)!  The teacher said that perhaps it was because E. had a birthday a few weeks ago, and B. is having one this weekend.  I assured her that there were no princesses at E's party, and that I was pretty sure B. wasn't going to have any at his; we finally decided that she must be deciding what she wants for her 3rd birthday, 6 months from now.  Hopefully she'll move on to something else by then - I'm not ready for princesses!

California Dreamin'

August marked our first big trip with Lily.  Carrie's cousin Troy got married in French Camp, California, and Lily was NOT going to miss the party.  We flew to Sacramento and used the wedding as an excuse to see San Francisco and Sonoma. Lily was a champ about just about everything.  Grand-mere and PawPaw Ed traveled with us, and Lily enjoyed spending time with them.  She also enjoyed dancing with her cousins at the wedding, riding the carousel at Pier 39, and flying the kite she got at Chinatown Kite Shop.  The rest of us enjoyed vacationing on a toddler schedule - not trying to do too much, and napping every day :)

Here's Lily on the Pier 39 carousel:

2nd Birthday party

Again, I know this is already old news, but Lily had a fabulous time at her second birthday party.  She was fortunate that, because of the holiday weekend, lots of family was in town already - and they were not about to miss this opportunity for a party!

Here's a photo of her enjoying her birthday cupcake.  Click the photo to view more pictures from the event.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate!!

back with no promises ;)

I think we might win an award for least consistent blogging.  Here's a photo of lily taken for her 2nd birthday (yes, I know it's already 2 months old!).  Maybe, possibly, we'll post more frequently, especially now that I am once again in possession of the logon information for the blog... But I'm making no promises!

Back after a LOOOONG break!

With the business of the holidays, and Daddy's computer biting it, we have been quite remiss in our updating the blog.  We're back in the swing of things, though, with a fancy new iMac.  Hopefully that will help us be better bloggers...

Lily, of course, has NOT been taking a break.  We'll post pictures soon (as soon as we learn how from the new computer!).  Lily's latest tricks include chomping on everything with her first little tooth(!), and starting to eat rice cereal.  She also is sitting up (sortof, with help).

We're going to do our best to be better about updating this site - bear with us!!

OK, now I'm in catch-up mode. Lily was so good today that Carrie and I had time to do tons of chores AND I've had time to play with photos. There's a two-month gap earlier where nothing got posted, so I have some work to do.

Labor Day Weekend was a lot of fun this year. Sue and Ed came up for the long weekend, and Lily got to play with her Grand-mère and Pawpaw Ed. And so I've finally got some photos of them to put up here! Sue, this one's for you.

The weekend was jam-packed. We took Lily to Georgetown to see Jewell and Rogers, her great-grandparents, on two days. The majority of the Griffis clan was there for the weekend and everyone got to meet Lily. Bizarrely, she slept through everything. We also finally took Sue and Ed to Stonehouse Vineyard in Spicewood to do some wine-tasting at our friend Arabella's parents' vineyard. It was a great weekend. Click here to see all the photos from the weekend.

Lily is learning to smile! She's the most smiley in the morning and right after she wakes up. But slowly and surely, we can coax a grin out of her at odd hours of the day. Go here for more of Lily's smiles.

Lily's Baptism

Lily's Baptism-52

OK. After much delay, I am finally getting around to posting some more photos. I had no idea so many people were checking the blog for updates! Ed, I hope your office hasn't succeeded in their mutiny.

Lily was baptized at the University Catholic Center in Austin, Texas on October 1. Her godparents are David and Nicole Diaz, Ryan's sister and brother-in-law. She was joined by her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles, and a first cousin once removed or two. Along with many friends. She was an angel throughout the whole thing. When Fr. Dave dumped (this is the most accurate description of what happened) water on her head three times, she did little more than squirm. Not a peep. She is a consumate performer.

Many thanks to Great Aunt Emily and Aunt Jen for their photos - Mom and Dad were too distracted to take any. Click on the link for more photos of the event, along with Lily's impersonation of a Victorian porcelain doll.
